Tokugawa Ieyasu Samurai Armor — Golden Shida Gusoku, Full Life-Size Set

Tokugawa Ieyasu spent his childhood as a hostage, his adulthood as somebody else's ally, and the last sixteen years of his life as the most powerful man in Japan. He won at Sekigahara in 1600, took the title of shōgun in 1603, and the government he built lasted two hundred and sixty-five years — the longest stretch of peace the country had ever had.

He is usually described as patient, which understates it. He outlived Nobunaga by thirty-four years and Hideyoshi by eighteen, and he inherited what both of them had built by the simple method of still being there.

This is a reproduction of the shida gusoku, the golden armor associated with Sekigahara. The whole body is finished in gold: a smooth gilt cuirass, gilt helmet bowl, and the distinctive fern-leaf crest curling above the brow. Blue and black lacing runs through the shoulders and neck guard, and the sleeves are backed in patterned brocade rather than plain cloth.
