Daimyō Series — Collector's Class
At the top of the tradition, armor stopped being equipment. The great sets of the Edo period were commissioned in peacetime by men who would never wear them into battle — and precisely because of that, they became the most refined objects the tradition produced. Freed from the battlefield, the armorer's craft turned entirely toward form.
Daimyō Class is where we place the exceptional pieces: individually shaped scales, lacquer built up in multiple polished coats so the surface has depth rather than shine, applied gold leaf, fittings made for the suit rather than selected for it. These are the sets modelled on the men whose names survived — Tokugawa Ieyasu, Takeda Shingen, Honda Tadakatsu.
Full measured dimensions are published on every listing, as they are throughout the store. If a piece here is close to your size but you are unsure, write to us before ordering; at this level we would much rather talk you out of the wrong fit than process a return.
Commissioned as centrepieces: private collections, exhibitions, rooms built around them.
Typical delivery: about four weeks. Custom sizing adds roughly four weeks. Intended use: display, exhibition, ceremony, and respectful non-contact wear.
